Kit, Andy, and Steve continue their House of the Dragon Season 3 coverage. Rhaenyra has finally claimed the Iron Throne and taken King's Landing, but the weight of the crown proves immediate and unforgiving. As the harsh realities of ruling the Seven Kingdoms close in around her, she must hold…

Rhaenyra just learned her son is dead and Ser Lorent straight up tells her I made a boo boo, kill me, my life is forfeit. Her response is a lovely, logical, measured answer. It is also completely insane that she did not kill that dude! Catch the full episode of…
House of the Dragon Episode 2 makes the surprising choice to skip the Fish Feed Battle entirely and instead gives us Daemon and his men performing a fully choreographed victory song, complete with individual lines for Roddy and Oscar. It is clearly been rehearsed for weeks and it is a…
Emma D'Arcy delivers some of the most realistic, devastating crying we have ever seen put to film in House of the Dragon Episode 2, Queen's Landing. The throne scene with Otto in particular layers nervous, scared, and angry all at once, and the result is genuinely one of the best…
Lohar's Ship Is Called the Bitch Fist So We Named the Rest of Her Fleet The flagship of Lohar's fleet in House of the Dragon Season 3 is called the Bitch Fist - and once you know that, you have to figure out what the rest of the ships are…
Kit, Andy, and Steve continue their House of the Dragon coverage with Season 3 Episode 2. Reeling from the tragic events from the Battle of the Gullet, Baela and Alyn search for Coryls. Daemon returns from the Riverlands. And Rhaenyra finally embarks to King's Landing to see if Alicent makes…
The standard complaint about adaptations is that they simplify the source material. House of the Dragon did the opposite. In Fire and Blood, Jace is a gallant Disney prince. In the show he is a kid with daddy issues making increasingly bad decisions. We break down why that creative choice…
At first glance Ser Lorent barring the door on Rhaenyra's orders looks like a plot convenience. But it is actually one of the most thematically precise moments in the entire premiere. One of the core ideas running through all of House of the Dragon is that even well meaning men,…
People criticize House of the Dragon for having major events hinge on characters losing control of their dragons. But that is not a flaw in the writing - it is the entire thesis of the show. The Targaryens built an empire on a weapon of mass destruction they never truly…
Every episode we hand out the Mummer's Dragon award for best performance of the episode. The Season 3 premiere had four serious contenders - Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Abigail Thorn as Lohar delivering full pirate swagger, Tom Bennett as Ulf with his backstory soliloquy, and Olivia Cooke doing…
The Battle of the Gullet in the House of the Dragon Season 3 premiere is a genuinely stunning piece of television production. The ship commands, the rigging, the nautical detail - it is the level of naval filmmaking that almost nobody pulls off, not even Pirates of the Caribbean. Master…
Lohar came equipped with grapnels from her time fighting dragons in the Stepstones, with weighted anchors on the other end designed to drag a dragon underwater. We break down the mechanics of the trap, why the show's version of the kill is actually smarter than the book's, and why Lohar…
Sheepstealer shows up after the Battle of the Gullet, pukes up two sheep, burns them with his breath, and lets Rhaena pull pieces off like a cat presenting its owner with a dead mouse. We immediately started debating the culinary implications. Is it medium rare or a charred mess? It…
When soldiers stop Aegon and Larys in the opening of House of the Dragon Season 3, their shield sigil tells you exactly who they are and why they are furious. House Staunton of Rook's Rest had their entire seat devastated during the Dance of Dragons and they have not forgotten…
The Aemond and Alicent kiss in the House of the Dragon Season 3 premiere is peak Targaryen chaos, and Olivia Cooke's expression in that moment is worth an Emmy on its own. We break down the slow burn of the scene, how long it took each of us to realize…
Tommy Flanagan shows up in the House of the Dragon Season 3 premiere as Roderick Dustin and delivers one of the most metal lines of the episode, "We come to die for the Dragon Queen!" and the podcast immediately went off the rails in the best way. Braveheart on double…
We break down why the scene is both devastating and perfectly constructed, why it mirrors Artax sinking in The Neverending Story, and why it plays out almost exactly as written in Fire and Blood. Ahead of House of the Dragon Season 3, we revisit the blog George R.R. Martin published criticizing Season 2, including his issue with the watered down Blood and Cheese sequence and the cut of Prince Maelor. The post was deleted within hours by his assistant. We break down why this…
Kit, Andy, and Steve clock in to the Streaming Things small council chambers for the explosive season 3 premiere of House of the Dragon! Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower enact their plan to stop the war before too many lives are lost, but unbeknownst to Rhaenyra, the war is right…
After Season 2, the comments were full of people swearing off House of the Dragon for good. We predicted they would be back, the same way nobody admits to watching Euphoria and yet everyone is talking about it. With incredible costuming, dragons, and standout performances from Emma D'Arcy and Matt…
Ahead of House of the Dragon Season 3, we went around the table and ranked our top three favorite Targaryens across Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. Queen Daenerys, Rhaenyra, and the Queen Who Never Was all made strong cases. Catch the full primer episode of Streaming Things…
The Season 2 finale of House of the Dragon ends with a brief, unexplained shot of Otto Hightower locked in a cell, a major departure from the books. He was last known to be heading to Highgarden to convince the Tyrells to commit their armies to the crown. We break…
